2025 MLB Draft: Nelson Keljo, LHP, Oregon State

Summary: Starter or not a starter, that is the big questions with Keljo that teams will have to answer in helping determine where he goes. The stuff is real, sitting low to mid 90s from the left side but running the fastball up to 98, all with some sink. His changeup is in the mid 80s with real fade and might be his best pitch overall. There is a mid 80s slider that is inconsistent in his feel and the shape of the pitch, and will be imperative especially if he is to make it as a starter. Another thing that needs to improve is his command, which is not an issue based on the delivery because he controls it well and has a repeatable 3/4 arm slot. If he can take that body control and allow it to translate to better command, he has a shot to start, assuming the breaking ball ticks up to at least average. Otherwise, you are looking at a two pitch reliever without anything with much bend to it, and that is where some teams may pass on him all together.
