| Summary: Lackey is a defense first catcher, but that doesn’t mean he can’t hit. He has really good lateral mobility and a strong arm that helps control the running game. On top of that he has good quiet footwork and quick transfers putting up competitive pop times regularly but he could stand to increase his accuracy. He only played about half the games for Georgia Tech as a freshman and struggled some at the plate, hitting just .214, but came out in 2025 as the unquestioned everyday backstop and found his groove. He hit .347 with an OPS of .921. It is certainly hit over power, but he has a quick bat to the zone and regularly gets the barrel on the ball. There is some concern as his track record with wood bat is poor, so expect that to be something that is brought up all the way through draft day. | |||||||||||
