| Summary: In three seasons Kleinschmit went from an Oregon high school to an Oregon junior college to Oregon State. All 17 appearances in 2025 for the Beavers came in the starting rotation where he walked 3.6/9 and struck out over 11/9. He will battle to become the Friday night starter for in 2026 and certainly has the stuff to be a collegiate staff ace. He works from the third base half of the rubber and fires out of a slightly higher than 3/4 slot that allows him to add some cut to his fastball that sits 90-93 and gets up to 95. He has a sweeping slider he uses against lefties in the 76-78 range, but adds depth and velo to it against righties making it essentially two different pitches depending on who is in the box. He will mix in a changeup occasionally, but it is used less than 10% of the time although it does have good shape. The body and delivery are both well suited to stick as a starter as a pro where he projects as a number four starter with number three upside. | |||||||||||
