Summary:
Underwood is a projectable lefthander who brings advanced pitchability and a clean delivery to a four-pitch mix. Drafted by the Brewers out of Allatoona High School but opting not to sign, he looks to add strength to his 6-foot-3 frame while maintaining a quick arm and repeatable operation. The fastball now sits 89–93, touching higher, with riding life that allows it to play above the radar gun and generate consistent whiffs at the top of the zone.

His breaking arsenal is headlined by a sharp 79–82 mph slider that carries elite spin approaching 2,900–3,000 rpm and shows two-plane bite. A curveball in the upper-70s offers more vertical depth with spin rates around 2,700 rpm, giving him two distinct, above-average breakers. The changeup rounds out the mix at 85–87, firm but effective with arm-side fade, and has shown the ability to miss bats when sequenced off the heater.

What separates Underwood is his ability to command all four pitches with feel for both sides of the plate, manipulating shapes and speeds with intent. His frame and athleticism suggest more velocity is coming, and the polish in his strike-throwing allows the stuff to play already. With continued physical development and refinement, Underwood projects as a left-hander capable of holding a full starter’s arsenal with above-average traits across the board.
