| Summary: McCoy is a lefthander with an average frame and a four-pitch mix that plays above its parts thanks to a lower three-quarter slot and an abbreviated arm stroke. His fastball has trended upward into the 92–96 range with life and cut, flashing as high as 98, and it plays well up in the zone. The combination of slot, spin, and release height gives hitters a tough look and helps the fastball miss barrels consistently. His primary secondary is a sharp mid-80s slider that shows both sweep and two-plane depth, flashing plus with tight spin and bat-missing ability. He also mixes a splitter-type changeup in the low-80s and a true cutter, though both are less consistent at present. The fastball-slider pairing already grades among the best in the class, and if the changeup continues to develop, McCoy has the ingredients of a potential frontline lefthander. | |||||||||||
