| Summary: A polished lefthander with projection still ahead, McMahan works in the low 90s and has reached 95, showing the ability to command the zone with intent. His fastball carries well from a loose arm, and he complements it with both a mid-80s cutter and a developing changeup that flashes fade. The operation is clean and repeatable, giving him a reliable foundation to build innings. What separates McMahan is the quality of his breaking ball pair. The slider comes in at 78–81 with spin rates north of 2,400 rpm, flashing late bite and bat-missing potential. His curveball works a few ticks lower in the mid-70s with over-2600 rpm spin, giving him a second distinct shape that keeps hitters from locking in on one look. The ability to spin both consistently sets him apart from many of his peers on the amateur circuit. With a full four-pitch mix, athletic delivery, and feel for sequencing, McMahan profiles as one of the better southpaws in the class. The combination of velocity growth, two high-spin breaking balls, and polish on the mound point to a ceiling in the middle of a rotation if the command and changeup continue to sharpen. | |||||||||||
