| Summary: Even after losing much of 2025 to a back injury, Salas remains advanced beyond his years defensively. His receiving is clean and quiet, transfers are lightning-quick, and his arm plays as a weapon against the running game. Just as notable is the composure he shows guiding a staff, a trait rarely seen in a teenager. The bat is behind the glove but not stagnant. Adjustments to his swing path have created more line-drive contact and hinted at untapped power. Zone control is still a plus, though good arms can exploit him away with velocity and spin. With health and time, the offensive side should catch up enough for him to be a two-way regular, with the glove giving him a very sturdy floor although there are plenty questions about whether or not the Padres rushed him too quickly. It is worth remembering he is still just 19 and has always been incredibly young for every level he has played, so learning curves are to be expected, you just hope his confidence hasn’t been harmed long term. | |||||||||||
