| Summary: Peterson brings premium arm strength with a fastball that sits comfortably in the mid-90s and regularly reaches 98–99 with carry and late life. Working from a high three-quarters slot, he generates heavy downhill plane and commands the heater to both sides of the plate when synced up. His mid-to-upper-80s slider is a legitimate plus pitch—sharp, two-plane, and capable of missing bats in any count—while his changeup flashes plus with late tumble and fade against lefties. He’ll also mix in a high-70s curveball that adds another distinct look, flashing depth when he stays on top. The operation is shorter and cleaner now, allowing him to hold velocity deeper into games after previously having quite a bit of effort through the finish. Command is still developing, but his strike throwing continues to trend up as he learns to repeat his cleaner delivery more consistently. With four legitimate pitches, present swing-and-miss traits, and a competitive edge that fits a Friday-night role, Peterson looks every bit the part of a college ace and early first round pick with 1-1 upside. | |||||||||||
