2026 MLB Draft: Coleman Borthwick, 3B/RHP, South Walton

Player: Coleman Borthwick
School: South Walton (FL)Position(s): 3B/RHP
Height: 6’6″Weight: 250 lbs.Bats: RightThrows: Right
Summary:
Borthwick looks every bit the prototype power arm, pairing rare size with surprising body control. The delivery works from a low three-quarters slot with clean tempo and intent, producing a fastball that sits comfortably in the 92–96 range and has reached 98. There’s heavy ride when he works to the inner half, and his size allows for steep downhill plane even from a lower release. He fills the zone with confidence, flashing both athleticism and presence on the mound.

The slider is his calling card—a tight, late-breaking weapon in the mid-80s that consistently spins in the 2,700–2,800 rpm range and misses bats against both sides. He’ll mix in a firm changeup in the mid-80s that shows occasional depth, but the fastball/slider combo already grades as dominant when he sequences well. The arm speed and spin traits suggest starter upside, though the shorter arm path and whippy elbow action could eventually push him toward a high-leverage relief role.

A legitimate two-way talent, Borthwick also offers real thump at the plate with plus raw power and a mature offensive approach. Even so, his future likely lies on the mound, where the velocity, spin, and command foundation point to a frontline collegiate starter or power bullpen weapon. The size, stuff, and competitiveness combine for one of the most imposing profiles in the class.
