| Summary: Scott is one of the more intriguing “big-frame puzzle pieces” in college baseball — a 6’7’’ righty with a long history of premium stuff that hasn’t always shown up in the box score. At his best, he’s shown mid- to upper-90s fastballs with real ride and the ability to cut or run it depending on intent. More recently the velocity has trended down into the low-90s, but the shape still flashes, and the delivery remains controlled and repeatable for a pitcher his size. When synced up, the fastball works at the top of the zone and sets the tone for a deep mix. His slider is his most consistent secondary — a mid- to upper-80s gyro look he manipulates well, tightening it for late vertical finish or adding sweep when he needs a different angle. The split-change is the real separator: 12 mph off the fastball, sub-900 spin, and legitimate fall-off-the-table action when he commits to it. It’s a plus pitch that he needs to lean on more often, especially given how well it neutralizes left-handed hitters. A cutter also shows utility versus righties, giving him four distinct looks when everything is working. The size, the delivery repeatability, and the breadth of the arsenal keep Scott firmly in the rotation discussion, but the story now is consistency. He’s had stretches where command wavers, the fastball backs up, or he overuses the slider and loses sequencing advantages. Even so, the underlying traits — physicality, pitch diversity, and the ability to miss bats when he lands the change — still point to a potential SEC breakout. If the fastball rebounds even slightly and the split becomes a fixture instead of a cameo. | |||||||||||
