Summary:
Rosario’s stuff jumped a level once Texas streamlined his delivery and leaned into the traits that make his arm so electric. The fastball now lives in the upper-90s with the kind of late carry and angle that let it play both above barrels and at the knees depending on how he manipulates it. He hides the ball well from a low release, giving hitters a late look at velocity they’re rarely on time for. When paired with the splitter — a legitimate out pitch with late dive that works in any count — he can sequence lefties and righties without needing to be perfect. The slider tightened up after he turned pro, with firmer, more consistent action and enough shape variability to land for strikes or chase when he wants it. Even before the surgery pause, the trendline pointed firmly toward a starter with real bat-miss potential.

What separated Rosario during his breakout stretch was how often he worked ahead. The simplified mix, reintroduced split, and adjusted alignment let him command the zone with far more intent than he ever showed in college. The delivery held together better, the ball stayed hidden longer, and hitters were forced to guard all three weapons. He didn’t need to nibble — pure stuff carried him, and when he threw strikes early, he overwhelmed lineups.

Injury has delayed the climb, but the ingredients remain loud: mid-to-upper-90s velocity with manipulation, a plus splitter he trusts, and a slider trending into true swing-and-miss territory. With health and durability, Rosario retains mid-rotation — and possibly more — upside.
