Summary:
Aquired from the Blue Jays in exchange for Seranthony Dominguez, Watts-Brown shows a bat-missing profile built around two legitimate breaking balls, with a mid-80s gyro slider that consistently does the damage. He can land it early for strikes or bury it late with chase, and it holds shape well enough to neutralize both sides. The curveball flashes as a second miss-bat offering with tighter depth when he stays on top, and the changeup took a real step forward into a usable fourth pitch, giving him multiple ways to finish hitters. The delivery is athletic and repeatable with good extension and leg drive, and the overall strikeout ability is real — the breaking balls carry the profile.

The fastball sits 92–95, but shape and location come and go, making it more hittable than the velocity suggests and creating volatility when he’s forced into fastball counts. When it leaks over the plate, damage shows up quickly, and the margin tightens above A-ball without a more reliable look or execution. Control can get to average, but fastball execution still trails the rest of the arsenal. If that piece comes along — either through better command or an added wrinkle — there’s a starter path. If not, the slider alone gives him a clear bullpen role where the stuff could play up and miss bats in volume.
