| Summary: Sorrell, coming off of an abbreviated 2025 season, is poised to anchor the Aggie lineup in 2026 should he stay healthy. Though his sophomore campaign was shortened, Sorrell showed why he was so highly touted coming out of Flower Mound TX in 2023. In 100 less plate appearances than he saw in 2024, he ended with 12 home runs in 2025 (11 in 2024). Sorrell has a tendency to try and launch balls to the pull side. There has been some swing and miss with this approach but also may play to his power potential in the long term. He is however, capable of spraying balls to all fields. He did show improved discipline at the plate in 2025, dropping his strikeout rate from 26% to 22%. If you ask him, Sorrell will tell you his top tool is his defense. Known for his highlight reel catches, he has the athleticism and arm to man any spot in the grass. Playing along side 1st round pick Jace LaViolette the last two years, Sorrell has been in right and left field for the Aggies to date. With LaViolette moving on in the draft last summer, he should see time in center during the 2026 season. Should Sorrell continue to fill out his 6’3″ frame and the power potential is realized, he likely profiles as a right fielder. Sorrell comes from a baseball lineage. Both of his grandfathers played in the big leagues and his father was also drafted out of high school. He credits them with how he approaches the game….with his hair on fire. Sorrell brings an old school, Charlie Hustle energy to the ballpark day in and day out. He may have to adapt his game slightly to survive the rigors of a pro season. With plus tools on both sides of the ball and another year of SEC play under his belt, Sorrell has the makings of a 1st round prospect. | |||||||||||
