2027 MLB Draft: Davis Wilson,RHP, Clovis North

Player: Davis Wilson
School: Clovis North (CA)Position(s): RHP
Height: 6’3″Weight: 190 lbs.Bats: RightThrows: Right
Summary:
Wilson presents a mature, aggressive look on the mound with a fastball/cutter pairing that already functions as a reliable foundation. He works from a high slot and does a good job disguising the ball, dropping the hand behind the hip to delay pickup and create late life through the zone. The fastball shows carry up top rather than heavy run, and he’s comfortable pitching downhill and attacking early. The cutter operates as a true secondary weapon in the mid-to-upper 80s, showing late action and giving hitters a different plane off the fastball when he stays on top of it.

Beyond the primary pairing, there’s enough variety to support a starter projection. He can change the look of his breaking ball, flashing a sharper downer and occasionally stretching it into a bigger, sweepier shape. The changeup is clearly a developmental piece and shows up sparingly, but the feel isn’t absent, and it gives him a pathway to handle left-handed hitters as he gains confidence with it. The delivery is clean and repeatable, the strike-throwing is ahead of the raw stuff, and there’s still physical and velocity growth coming. The overall profile points to a rotation arm whose value is driven by pitch quality, sequencing, and polish rather than pure power.
