Summary:
Dix entered pro ball as a high-end Wisconsin prep switch-hitter taken 35th overall despite senior-year labrum surgery, and the early returns still point to an offense-driven profile with real upside. He sets up with simple, balanced actions from both sides—cleaner and more natural from the left—working with a toe-tap load and a controlled, all-fields approach. The hit tool projects above average thanks to barrel feel and spin recognition, and there’s 15–20 homer potential as strength continues to come. At times he can be overly passive, keeping the swing rate low and letting hittable pitches pass, which can allow underlying chase and whiff tendencies to creep in when he does get aggressive.

Athleticism and speed add another layer to the evaluation. A plus runner, he’s an aggressive basestealer still refining feel and pacing. Defensively, the arm remains the swing factor as it fits best at second leading to questions whether shortstop is viable long term, and a center-field or utility path exists if the arm lags. With natural bat-to-ball skills, physical projection, and multi-positional routes to value, the range of outcomes remains wide—but if the power shows up more consistently in games and the arm stabilizes, there’s everyday upside.
