| Summary: Sims has picked up where he left off in 2025 opening the early high school season in dominant fashion for Prestonwood Christian. The intrigue remains extremely high on Sims, as it should. Currently standing at 6’8″ and hovering around 215 lbs., the “what could eventually be” question is on many scouts minds. However, the current state of Sims game isn’t anything to balk at. The righty has shown the fastball early in 2026 sitting 96-99 mph topping 100 mph. Working from the third base side of the rubber and showing late arm side run makes for an uncomfortable at bat for right handers. He’s shown the ability to spin the fastball upwards of 2,400 rpms, though that spin is not always consistently there. His primary secondary pitch is the slider, which has seen an up tic in velocity early in 2026. Sitting 87-88 mph early while topping 90 mph, he tunnels it well with his fastball and consistently throws it with intent. It has late life with good horizontal action and depth into left handed hitters. The change up is a work in progress, though he has flashed it as an effective pitch early in 2026. If he is able to harness the change up consistently, it will be an integral key to his overall development as a potential starter at the next level. In addition to the velocity, Sims shows elite extension at 7.5 to 7.6 feet, getting on hitters quickly. For his size, Sims is relatively fluid mechanically, coming from a higher, almost over the top arm slot. He hides the ball well adding an additional hurdle for hitters to overcome. The pressing question is and will be, where will his physique end up as he matures? There is still considerable room for growth from a strength perspective which adds even more intrigue to Sims ceiling. Currently projected as a 2-3 rounder, this spring will be crucial for right hander’s draft stock. Command will be key along with further developing his repertoire.
