| Summary: Huntington Beach High School currently features two of the most highly touted left-handed bats in the California class of 2027. One of which belongs to Parker Leoff. The baby-faced middle infielder has earned considerable recognition lately and was a member of the 2024 Team USA 15U National team. Listed at 5’11”, Leoff displays a slim frame with athletic legs that he utilizes well in his swing and defensive efforts. He shows smooth glove actions and patient hands when watching him in the field. Parker has an impressive ability to transfer and release a quick and accurate throw from different slots and angles in the infield. His footwork is clean, and he takes deliberate routes to ground balls to create easy hops for himself. He does not have a big arm for a shortstop, but it does not take away his ability to make plays with a quick throw that carries through the first baseman. With his athleticism and footwork in mind, I’m confident the move to second base would be virtually seamless if necessary in the future. Offensively, he shows promise as an athletic lefty with exciting bat-to-ball skill. The 17-year-old starts his swing tall with a slightly open base. Leverages his small leg kick as a timing mechanism and also to engage his lower half, which provides him with some pop when he barrels the baseball. Takes somewhat of a steep path to the baseball but gets the barrel to flatten out and catch the ball deep in the zone. His power is mostly gap to pull-side. Parker fires his back hip and hands, supplying bat speed, which then flows into his running motion toward first base. Still, the lefty is able to adjust his timing on off-speed and outer half pitches and deliver hard-hit balls going the other way. Altogether, it produces a fluid and powerful left-handed stroke. Leoff runs well but doesn’t possess elite foot speed for a middle infielder. He was clocked at a 7.03 60-yd dash in July, 2025. A smooth and efficient defender up the middle who has plus hit capabilities with the potential of real gap power as he develops his body from high school to the next level. The South Bay prospect is shaping up to make a splash wherever he ends up, showing talent that is found in very few young players across the country. | |||||||||||
