Summary:
Acquired this offseason from the Texas Rangers in the MacKenzie Gore trade, Fitz-Gerald’s profile is driven by the bat, and it’s a legitimate one. The switch-hitter controls the zone well, keeps miss rates low, and shows the ability to elevate and do damage — the raw power is more real than the frame might suggest, and pull-side lift allows it to play up. He’s more natural from the left side, where the swing looks cleaner and more repeatable, though he’s functional from the right. The overall offensive package is built on polish and approach rather than a carrying tool, which gives it a high floor.

Defensively, second base is the most natural fit. The arm is average and the athleticism won’t wow anyone, but he’s smooth up the middle with experience across the infield that adds roster flexibility. The profile reads as an everyday second baseman with the versatility to fill in elsewhere — the bat will need to carry its weight, and the signs so far suggest it can.
