| Summary: Already traded twice, from the Mets to Orioles and now the D-Backs, it is easy to see why teams like Aracena. The stuff is electric. His fastball sits 97-101 from a short, efficient arm stroke at three-quarters, and a cutter that operates in the mid-90s gives him a second plus offering off the same arm speed — the kind of combination that makes for an extremely difficult at-bat when he’s throwing strikes. A changeup also sitting in the low-to-mid 90s rounds out a power arsenal that has few peers in terms of raw velocity and pitch quality. Command has been the defining variable throughout his development, and extreme control issues earlier in his career created a volatile profile that the stuff alone couldn’t overcome. The strike-throwing took a meaningful step forward in 2025, and the improvement is what makes the profile worth tracking closely now. The ceiling unlocks in direct proportion to how consistently he can harness the arsenal — when it’s all working, the high-leverage closer profile is obvious. | |||||||||||
