| Summary: Cheek is a lean, athletic shortstop from Rockwall TX. The bat to ball skills are present with consistent line drive contact. He starts with a slightly open stance accompanied with a wide base. The trigger is a slight toe tap with hands loaded in a higher slot. The bat stays through the zone with extension, capable of working to all fields. Additional gap to gap power is in his future. In the dirt, Cheek is sound fundamentally with quick hands and transfer. The arm is accurate and throws extremely well from lower slots. A primary shortstop at the prep level, Cheek could make the move to 2B at the next level. The frame still has room to fill out. He’s a solid runner and should see improvement as strength comes. Signed with the University of Arkansas, Cheek could be a sneaky late round pick. | |||||||||||
