| Summary: Rodriguez presents one of the more unusual offensive profiles in the system. A hyper-aggressive left-handed hitter whose chase rate is among the worst in professional baseball, yet the elite hand-eye coordination and barrel control allow him to maintain low strikeout totals that defy what the approach numbers suggest should happen. The bat speed is among the best in the system, the contact quality in the zone is genuinely above-average, and the ability to golf middle-in pitches with pull-side authority gives the offensive profile real teeth when he’s squared up on something he can handle. The approach is what caps the ceiling and keeps the everyday profile out of reach. Swinging at over half of pitches seen and expanding east-west and north-south against quality pitchers creates an OBP risk that advanced pitching staffs will exploit — good pitchers don’t have to beat him, they can let him beat himself. The barrel control buys him more rope than most players with this approach profile would get, but the ceiling is fundamentally limited by how frequently quality pitching can expose the zone expansion. Approach refinement has shown some progress and the pull-side power has started to surface more consistently, but the chase profile has been too consistent and extreme to project meaningful change. Left field is the long-term defensive home — the speed plays on the bases and the arm is accurate, though the reads and routes limit the defensive ceiling in the outfield. The platoon role against right-handed pitching is where the profile makes the most sense, with the bat speed and barrel control giving him real production value in the right matchups. | |||||||||||
