| Summary: A standout catcher at Bowling Green State, Garrett Wright transferred to Tennessee for his draft year in hopes of proving that he could replicate his gaudy numbers in the SEC. He has proven to be more than up to the task, with an OPS over 1.000 while splitting his time between catcher and center field for the Volunteers. Offensively, Wright demonstrates a very well-rounded profile. He has posted high-level OPS numbers all 3 years of college ball, and set the BGSU program record for doubles in his final year there in 2025. He is still working on building real power into his game, but the bat-to-ball skills mean that his floor is already extremely high. He did struggle a touch on the Cape, but he should be seen as a top-level offensive talent, especially for a catcher. Defensively, Wright has shown that he can thrive both behind the plate and in the outfield. Behind the plate, his receiving and blocking are right around average, but an arm like a beebee gun means that runners should be very wary of trying to take bases on him. Similarly, he is still very raw in the outfield in terms of tracking fly balls, but his arm can absolutely play at all 3 outfield spots. Most likely, he will end up back behind the dish full time, but with development, he should be a solid option wherever he does end up. | |||||||||||
