| Summary: One of the more heralded prospects to come out of Massachusetts in some time, Brody Bumila presents an extremely interesting profile for teams to consider this draft season. His fastball has wowed scouts for years, and his projectable frame has many scouts dreaming about what his future could look like. Repertoire-wise, the big lefty relies on three main pitches. Unsurprisingly, he leads with the big fastball, which sits 95-97 and tops out at around 100 mph. He has had some trouble holding velocity throughout his outings, with the fastball dropping a couple of ticks in the later innings according to some scouts. He also features a changeup in the high 80’s and a slider/sweeper in the mid 80’s, both of which are still developing. He will have to gain some feel for them in order for them to become truly dependable, but they have shown flashes of being high-quality pitches. For Bumila, the main question is whether or not he can find enough feel with his secondaries. There is no question that his fastball is one of the best in the draft class, but he will need to build out his repertoire in order to become the true top of the line Major League starter that many hope he can become. | |||||||||||
