| Summary: A lean, projectable frame with a high arm slot and a release point that stays obscured deep into the delivery gives Lutz a deceptive look that hitters struggle to pick up. The arm is loose and quick with exceptional extension, and the fastball sits 90-94 and has grabbed 96 early in outings with cut and carry that makes it difficult to elevate against when it’s working up in the zone. The physical projection remaining in the frame gives the velocity trajectory room to climb considerably as the body matures and strength gains come. The curveball is the secondary with the most long-term upside — a bigger shape with 12-6 action that tunnels well off the fastball when the delivery is in sync and already shows enough feel to operate in the zone consistently. A slider and changeup with late fade round out a mix that has more secondary depth than most 2027 arms carry, though both need more separation and shape consistency to develop into reliable distinct offerings. Command and delivery repeatability are the developmental priorities that will define the ceiling. The landing spot and release point vary enough to create inconsistency that the stuff alone can’t fully overcome, and the physical development and strength gains should help the delivery tighten naturally over time. The mid-rotation upside is grounded in arm speed, projection and deception that are already present — the command needs to catch up. | |||||||||||
