| Summary: The delivery is the first thing that grabs attention — a compact arm path that hides the ball deep into foot strike with a slight hop out of the leg lift creates a deceptive look that hitters struggle to pick up. Nearly seven feet of extension allows a four-seamer sitting 92-95 and touching 97 to play well above the raw velocity with carry, ride and occasional natural cut that make it a genuinely plus pitch out of the hand. The slider is the other standout — a big two-plane breaking ball with the ability to back-foot right-handed hitters with depth while generating elite miss rates against left-handed hitters as well. The fastball-slider combination is as loud a two-pitch pairing as any lefthander in the system. Command has been below-average and the effort in the delivery compounds the strike-throwing inconsistency — a profile that trends firmly toward the bullpen where the two-pitch combination can operate at full intensity without the demands of a reliable third offering. The changeup and splitter have both been explored as potential third pitches but the ultra-compact arm action makes developing consistent feel for either a difficult ask, and the cutter has been floated as a possible alternative. The effort and command profile seen most recently point toward relief as the realistic long-term home rather than a destination to work toward. In shorter stints the stuff is genuinely nasty — a deceptive lefthander with a plus fastball and a plus slider who can miss bats against hitters from both sides is a valuable commodity at any level of the bullpen. | |||||||||||
