Summary:
The arm speed and raw stuff are as loud as any arm in the system. A dynamic, high-effort delivery with a counter-rotated leg lift, open landing and a whippy three-quarter arm action generates a fastball that sits mid-to-upper-90s and touches triple digits — the carry and ride allow it to operate as a genuine weapon when elevated, generating whiffs in a part of the zone where most pitchers can’t consistently miss bats. The slider is the complement, a two-plane breaking ball that shifts between a sharper horizontal shape and a downward death-ball when buried — flashing plus potential and giving him a second elite offering when both versions are working.

A firmer cutter with slutter traits and a changeup with tumble and fade round out a four-pitch mix that has the depth to support a rotation role if the command develops. The changeup has been the third option even against left-handed hitters and needs significantly more reps to become a reliable weapon, and the command backed up at Double-A despite meaningful walk rate improvements in the prior season — the oblique injury added another complication to an already volatile developmental picture.

The bullpen is the most likely destination and the stuff is more than equipped for a high-leverage or closer role where the fastball can operate at maximum intensity in shorter stints and the slider can tick further into the upper range of its velocity band. The starter door hasn’t closed — the arsenal depth and projectability in the frame give the rotation path something to chase — but the effort, command inconsistency and injury history all point toward relief as the realistic long-term landing spot.
