| Summary: Silky hands and a quick arm give Rippy a natural feel on the left side of the infield, and the advanced defensive actions give him a real chance to stick at shortstop rather than projecting straight to third base. A wider base with no stride keeps the swing simple and repeatable, and the firm hand position working uphill gives the left-handed bat a pull-side intent that already produces twitchy bat speed through the lower part of the zone. The power is trending in the right direction as the frame continues to add strength, with more physical development still on the way. The current pull-side approach gets to gap-to-gap contact effectively, and some swing adjustments could unlock more all-fields impact as the hit tool matures alongside the power. The overall offensive foundation gives evaluators plenty to like heading into a critical summer evaluation period. The defensive tools and offensive trajectory both point in the same direction — a 2027 shortstop prospect with the arm and actions to hold a premium position and a left-handed bat that is just beginning to tap into real power. The summer circuit will be the proving ground for how much the profile rises. | |||||||||||
