| Summary: The approach adjustment against breaking balls was the unlock that made Miller’s upper-level production take off. Learning to attack spin early in counts rather than taking it allowed the plus pull-side power to show up without sacrificing the plate discipline that gives the offensive profile its floor — the combination of above-average hard contact rates, strong chase data across pitch types and the ability to make in-season corrections points to a hitter who understands his game and knows how to get better. The one vulnerability that persists is breaking balls away, which will create some contact-grade pressure at the highest level, but the power and on-base ability give the profile significant upside regardless. The raw tools at the plate are legitimate. A clean right-handed swing with natural loft and pull-side intent generates above big-league average peak exit velocities, and the bat speed gives the damage production a carrying quality that elevates the overall ceiling. Outstanding baserunning instincts add significant value despite average pure speed — a player who maximizes every base and puts consistent pressure on the defense gives the offense a dimension the raw tools alone don’t fully capture. A lower back procedure will cost him the bulk of 2026, an unfortunate interruption to what had been a strong developmental trajectory. Defensively, what entered pro ball as a question mark has become one of the more encouraging stories in the system — actions more explosive, footwork steadier, arm accuracy improved, and the range to handle a full slate of plays at shortstop turning a projected third baseman into a viable everyday option at the position. Third base remains the likely long-term landing spot as the profile matures physically, but the defensive development has given every reason to keep him at the premium position as long as possible. The health will need to be monitored, but the offensive and defensive foundation give the profile a high ceiling to return to. | |||||||||||
