| Summary: White is a compact, well-built infielder who gets his entire body behind the swing — a big leg kick and large stride generate leverage and bat speed that allow him to lift low and inside pitches with authority and punish mistakes to the pull side. The raw power is above-average and shows up in games more consistently than the contact profile might suggest, and the batted-ball angles give the over-the-fence production a reliable shape when he’s on time. The contact ability has also been a pleasant development in pro ball, trending better than the college track record indicated. The swing mechanics create vulnerability that will be tested against better pitching. A steep swing path and timing demands from the big leg kick open the door for quality spin and elevated velocity to expose the profile — struggles against premium fastballs and breaking balls away have been consistent enough to represent a real concern as the competition level rises. Zone expansion compounds the issue, and tightening the approach against pitches at the top of the zone and on the outer half will be the ongoing developmental challenge. Defensively, smooth actions and the ability to deliver the ball accurately from multiple body positions give White a functional home at second base long term. The range and first step are limited enough to make shortstop a temporary assignment rather than a long-term fit, but the versatility to hold both spots adds real roster value around a bat that the power makes worth carrying. | |||||||||||
