Summary:
Jordan Crosland was one of the hottest names in the transfer portal this summer before he committed to Virginia – and deservedly so. He tore it up for Maryland in his sophomore campaign, as well as in the Appalachian League last summer. There are some questions about how he will perform against higher-level opposition after struggling in the Cape, but he looks poised to answer them with a big season for the Cavaliers in the ACC.

Hitting-wise, Crosland is a little raw, but make no mistake, there is real talent there. He has a combined OPS of .913 across three collegiate seasons, with an absurdly high 1.393 mark in his sophomore year. He does strike out fairly frequently, but that does often come with huge power. This year will be a big test for Crosland, as it will be interesting to see whether he can maintain those power numbers and stave off an increase in strikeouts, but if he does, look for him to be a top target for teams whenever he declares for the draft.

Defensively, Crosland has played both infield and outfield, but his future is likely in the outfield due to his advanced athleticism. He is fast and rangy, though his fly ball tracking could certainly use a little work. However, he is certainly athletic enough to get comfortable, and once he does, look for him to potentially become elite in the outfield grass. He can play infield as well, though once again, he is likely to end up in the outfield long term.

For Crosland, this upcoming year is a big one. He has taken a big bet on himself by transferring into the ACC, and if it pays off, look for him to be one of the better seniors in his draft class. It is a big jump to be sure, but one that Crosland should be able to take in stride.
