Summary:

On the mound, a meaningful velocity jump into the mid-90s has changed the profile considerably — the fastball now touches 96 with solid arm-side tail and a flat approach angle from a lower release point that generates strong chase rates at the top of the zone. The spin ability was always the calling card, and it remains the most exciting trait in the arsenal.

The sweeper is the standout secondary — north of 3,000 rpm with enormous two-plane break and late action that creates genuine difficulty for right-handed hitters. A second high-spin breaking ball gives him two distinct shapes to attack hitters with different looks, and a changeup mixed in occasionally has performed well enough to give the profile a third option worth developing. The back-end starter ceiling requires that changeup or a more reliable third offering to hold up through a lineup multiple times, and holding the velocity jump over longer outings will be the evaluation marker that drives the projection conversation forward.

The offensive side — a left-handed bat with power-speed combination, strong walk rates and consistent production for three collegiate seasons — gives organizations a viable fallback that most pitching prospects don’t carry. The pitching upside is the more compelling path and the direction the evaluation is trending, but the two-way ability gives the draft profile unique leverage that will factor into how aggressively organizations pursue him on draft day.
