| Summary: The changeup is as good as any in his draft class and it’s the pitch that defines the profile. A double-plus offering with late movement and fade that neutralizes hitters from both sides in any count — the ability to mimic the fastball’s trajectory before breaking sharply late gives it genuine deception on top of the raw action, and the results against both platoons reflect a weapon that misses bats consistently rather than situationally. The separation between the changeup and the fastball creates a guessing game that tilts heavily in his favor when both are working together. The fastball sits 94-96 and touches 98 from a low-effort, repeatable delivery with a three-quarters arm slot — the ability to generate arm-side sink down in the zone and ride when elevated gives it two distinct profiles, and professional pitch design could unlock additional value beyond what the current shape produces. The lean frame, calm operation and long history of attacking the strike zone across three college seasons give the innings-eater projection a legitimate foundation that the overall arsenal supports. The slider is where the ceiling gets defined. It showed above-average potential earlier in his career and still generates swing-and-miss when the shape is right, but the feel and execution were less reliable in the draft year — a surprising regression for a pitcher with this level of command on his other offerings. Developing the slider into a consistent third weapon would give the profile everything needed to hold a rotation spot and handle a lineup multiple times. The mid-rotation projection is grounded in the changeup alone — the slider taking a meaningful step would push the ceiling beyond it. | |||||||||||
