| Summary: The rigors of pitching at the division 1 level are demanding. Add in the arduous call of doing so at a service academy, one that rests 7,200 feet above sea level, and that task becomes far more difficult. Estridge has been a contributor for the Air Force staff since his freshman campaign in 2024. In 2026 he was the Falcon’s Friday night starter for much of the year. He flashed the promise of an effective repertoire on opening night against Penn State going 6 scoreless at the MLB Desert Invitational. Estridge deploys a 4-pitch mix, one that includes a fastball that has topped 95 mph, and rests comfortably in the 91-93 mph range. It shows carry through the zone and is capable of inducing swing and miss. His out pitch is the change up, playing well off the fastball with depth at 84-86 mph. He throws a curveball (78-81 mph) flashing a 1-7 profile with late, sharp bite. The cutter will work 87-90 mph and keeps righties off the barrel. Estridge works from the 1st base side of the rubber with a higher arm slot. He tunnels extremely well with good arm speed and extension down the hill. He works from the set position with a closed off front side to the hitter. Its a higher leg kick as he slightly coils back toward second base. With runners on he abbreviates the leg lift working with good rhythm, mixing timing well. Air Force doesn’t schedule non-conference cupcakes. In his time at the Academy, Estridge has logged appearances against Texas, Mississippi State, and Florida to name a few. Logging 64.2 innings in 2026, Estridge has demonstrated he can shoulder the load of a durable starting pitcher. In between military duties this summer, he has found his way to the Cape Cod League toeing the rubber for the Brewster White Caps. In his first two appearances he’s amassed a 2-0 record allowing 3 hits over 6.0 innings and a sub 1.0 whip (.833). With an arsenal that has proven to be effective, it will be interesting to see where the ceiling is for Estridge upon graduation from the Academy. Cadets are not afforded the same rest, recovery and nutrition that a typical division 1 athlete enjoys. 2027 will be an important spring for the right-hander as he sets his sights on pro-ball. | |||||||||||
