| Summary: An “old school” prototypical lead off hitter, Johnson took the ACC by storm in his inaugural season for the Wolfpack. A disciplined approach, the ability to draw walks, elite bat to ball skill, and 70-grade speed highlight the profile. He posted a .490 OBP as a freshman, amassing 42 BB’s while striking out only 17 times. He has an advanced understanding of the strike zone with the ability to get the barrel to all quadrants. Johnson doesn’t project for much future power and doesn’t have to. His game is built on a high level contact rate, which has seen a significant rise in value in today’s industry. His numbers and his approach in the box show stunning similarity to another D1Baseball All American in 2026, Wyatt Hanoian. Johnson sets up slightly open with hands positioned in a higher slot. The leg kick, like Hanoian, hangs high in a controlled manner. The barrel stays on plane through the zone for a long period of time with good extension out front. Johnson is a heady baserunner with plus overall speed. He swiped 14 bags for the Pack in 2026 but has shown a more aggressive approach on the basepaths this summer at the USA CNT trails. a 25 SB season in 2027 is not out of the question. Defensively, Johnson saw time in LF and CF. He has the arm, instinct and speed to play CF long term and should see the majority of his time there in 27′. He’s an electric player that can wreak havoc on the game in multiple ways. A high follow player draft eligible sophomore trending up. | |||||||||||
Eric Dillinger is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Erie High School, entering his 4th season as the Head Coach and 9th season overall. Dillinger was the pitching coach at Erie prior to becoming head coach. At the club level, he has coached nationally for multiple organizations including the Colorado Yard Dawgs, the Colorado Rockies Scout program, and USA Prime. Dillinger is also currently the General Manager for D-BAT NW Denver. In addition to his duties as GM, he is also a senior pitching instructor. He is certified in Rapsodo Pitching and is also Driveline Certified (Pitch Design). Beyond coaching on the field, Dillinger enjoys helping athletes in the recruiting process. He has helped over 40 athletes find homes at the next level.
