| Summary: After a breakout sophomore season at Florida Gulf Coast, Embury is headed to Gainesville. Embury has the old school prototypical catcher’s build, with considerable strength added during his first two years on campus. He has seen time at third base in addition to behind the dish showing versatility on the defensive side, however, expect Embury to see the majority of his reps as a catcher for the Gators. Embury’s bat is what carries the profile. The potential for power to be a plus tool is evident. He managed 17 home runs last season for FGCU and is certainly capable of reaching to 20 HR mark moving forward. The set up is neutral to slightly open, using a toe tap to get things started. His hands are slotted a slightly below the shoulder. Its a quiet operation that culminates in explosive bat speed with strong hands staying through the zone. He’s shown the ability to do damage in all quadrants, especially to the pull side. Behind the plate, Embury gets the job done with more average tools overall. He’s shown the ability to block well and handle a staff. His build should allow him to withstand the rigors of a professional season. After a successful stint in the Cape this summer, Embury will now be tested in the SEC. He’s shown development season over season and could be primed for another big season on an even bigger stage. | |||||||||||
Eric Dillinger is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Erie High School, entering his 4th season as the Head Coach and 9th season overall. Dillinger was the pitching coach at Erie prior to becoming head coach. At the club level, he has coached nationally for multiple organizations including the Colorado Yard Dawgs, the Colorado Rockies Scout program, and USA Prime. Dillinger is also currently the General Manager for D-BAT NW Denver. In addition to his duties as GM, he is also a senior pitching instructor. He is certified in Rapsodo Pitching and is also Driveline Certified (Pitch Design). Beyond coaching on the field, Dillinger enjoys helping athletes in the recruiting process. He has helped over 40 athletes find homes at the next level.
