| Summary: Jacobs is a lefty who’s built his profile on a deep, varied arsenal rather than one standout weapon, working from a fastball that sits low-90s to mid-90s and has touched as high as 96, carrying enough life up in the zone that it outperforms the velocity reading. The delivery repeats well, and he’s shown the ability to land four distinct offerings for strikes going back to his amateur days — the calling card here has always been mix and feel over pure stuff. The breaking-ball mix is best described as a slider and curveball working in tandem — the slider shows real bite and has flashed the ability to run and cut depending on the look, while the curveball adds a slower, deeper shape with depth that plays especially well against left-handed hitters; some looks have shown a tighter, harder version of the slider that reads almost like a cutter, but it’s more shape variance within the same pitch than a true fourth weapon.
