| Summary: Phillips is an enticing two-way prospect from Fisherville Kentucky. Recently decommitted from Wake Forest, Phillips landing spot at the collegiate level remains up in the air. That may ultimately not matter as he continues to rise up boards heading into 2027. Though the two-way potential remains real, many feel Phillips will land as a position player at the next level. It’s a smooth operation from the left side with plenty of projection in the 6’4″ frame. Starting with an open stance Phillips works to the middle with a controlled leg kick, coiling the hips well. He creates separation at launch with hands staying back, culminating with explosive bat speed through the zone. He’s demonstrated high level pitch recognition while effectively getting the barrel to all areas of the zone. For now, its gap to gap pop with the potential for considerable gains in the power department. It will be interesting to see if he is able to keep fluidity in the stroke as he adds additional strength. On the mound, the operation mimics the silky procedure he displays in the box. He is not lighting up the radar gun today, topping at 89 mph, however the projection remains for plenty more juice off of bump. He repeats well mechanically, tunneling his pitches from a three quarter slot. There is plenty of upside for the southpaw. As is the case with most two-way prospects, the chatter leading up to the draft will most certainly surround the which path Phillips will find himself on. Eric Dillinger is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Erie High School, entering his 4th season as the Head Coach and 9th season overall. Dillinger was the pitching coach at Erie prior to becoming head coach. At the club level, he has coached nationally for multiple organizations including the Colorado Yard Dawgs, the Colorado Rockies Scout program, and USA Prime. Dillinger is also currently the General Manager for D-BAT NW Denver. In addition to his duties as GM, he is also a senior pitching instructor. He is certified in Rapsodo Pitching and is also Driveline Certified (Pitch Design). Beyond coaching on the field, Dillinger enjoys helping athletes in the recruiting process. He has helped over 40 athletes find homes at the next level.
