Summary:
Formosa has built real helium this summer off a big-bodied left-handed hitter’s frame that’s produced some of the loudest exit velocities of any hitter on the circuit. He combines real bat speed with strong hand strength, and evaluators have consistently pointed to the rare pairing of size and present barrel control as the separator in his profile — the kind of combination that doesn’t show up often at this stage.

The swing itself is compact and efficient, generating easy, natural power that’s played against top competition, including a loud extra-base hit in a marquee title-game moment. He sets up tall with his hands held high, and while the load carries some natural movement, he gets into position well before he starts his swing, generating real torque through his top half. He doesn’t miss much given how much damage he’s looking to do, and he’s shown the ability to do damage from line to line, including real strength going the other way. There’s more to tap into once he gets the ball in the air more often — one evaluator flagged limited flexibility below the waist and some swing-and-miss against pitches he has to chase out of his comfort zone — but that reads as a minor swing note rather than a real concern given how advanced the rest of the offensive tools already look.

Defensively, this profiles as a corner outfielder — the arm and instincts have looked capable enough to hold his own out there, but the speed grades as a real below-average tool, which limits the defensive range and reinforces the corner projection rather than any thought of staying up the middle.

The overall bet here is straightforward: a physical, advanced left-handed power bat whose hit tool and raw strength already stand out in this class, with a real chance to keep climbing draft boards as the swing continues to sharpen and the power translates into more consistent over-the-fence production.
