| Summary: Knoth is a high draft pick whose development was set back when a full season was lost to injury. The arsenal he showed before it is the reason he stays on the radar. He’s a righthander with a very quick arm and a delivery that repeats. The fastball sits 92-95 and touches 96, and it carries through the top of the zone. The slider became his main out-pitch, a plus pitch with some of the best spin in his class, and he can shape it in more than one way. The curveball is the other plus breaker. It has big depth and gets hitters to stand and watch it, though in pro ball he’s leaned on it for called strikes. The changeup trails both. It doesn’t separate much from the fastball, and he’s thrown it rarely, mostly to land a strike. Command is the area to watch. He’s a solid strike-thrower for his age, but the line to the plate can drift and the control wavers. Durability and the lost year are the other open questions, and the stuff has to come back intact. When it does, this is a starter with midrotation upside, built on a deep, spin-heavy arsenal and a delivery that holds together. The strikes have to hold too, or the same arsenal would play as a relief arm. | |||||||||||
