Summary:
Westmoreland is a left-handed hitter with a bat that’s more polished than you’d expect from a player his age, and he’s one of the older hitters in his class. He lets his hands do the work and has exceptional control of the barrel. When he decides to swing at a pitch, he nearly always gets the bat on it, and the way he adapts to what pitchers throw him stands out.

His game approach is built on contact, and he drives line drives and fills the gaps in both directions. In batting practice there’s more, with the ball jumping off his bat to the pull side and carrying, and he has real strength in his hands and legs. In games the swing starts early and comes mostly from his hands instead of his hips, so the pop rarely appears. The projection is for below-average power, with a bit more if his approach shifts, and his well-proportioned frame still has more to add.

He has played center field and has the athleticism to be useful there. His speed grades from average to above average. He takes short, quick strides, so he should keep the speed as a pro, but adding strength isn’t likely to make him faster. The profile points to a corner outfield spot, most likely left field.

The bat is what teams will want. A contact-first lefty with this kind of barrel control has a skill set that’s tough to pass over, and he should fit in a corner as a hitter first.
