Summary:
Primera is a right-handed hitter whose contact skills and plate discipline are the foundation of his game. He has an instinct for the barrel beyond his years, starts his swing with a smooth, early leg raise, and picks up fastballs and breaking pitches alike. He lifts the ball to his pull side without trouble and also drives it the other way. Free passes have outpaced his strikeouts, and he seldom misses when he swings.

His power projects as average in games. The frame can still take on more strength, and combined with his bat path that should get him to average pop on top of a hit tool that grades above average. When he faces more experienced pitchers, he’s put more balls on the ground, an adjustment he has to make. He’s a poor runner.

Behind the plate, he moves smoothly and athletically, with quiet hands and a body that gets in front of the pitch. He receives well, gets strikes called on low pitches especially, stops balls in the dirt reliably, and throws with an arm that grades from above average to plus. Overall the glove grades above average to plus, and it could settle even higher.

He projects as a primary catcher. The glove gives him a solid floor, and his bat-to-ball skills should keep him productive. If the power grows past average, he becomes a regular who helps on both sides of the ball, and even a lesser version of this player should hold a big league job behind the plate.
