Summary:
Su is a right-hander with a thin, light build that has plenty of space to fill in, and a loose, fast arm that gets velocity without much effort. His fastball sits in the low-to-mid 90s, reaches 97, and plays up in the upper part of the zone, and it should gain speed as he gets stronger. He controls his body well enough to stay balanced through hesitations in his delivery, which throw off a hitter’s timing while he keeps throwing strikes.

He has a good touch for spin, and he throws two breaking balls with it. A curveball in the upper 70s and a slider that runs from the high 70s into the mid 80s give him different ways to miss bats, and the slider has been the more dependable one. A splitter that drops sharply away from the fastball draws many chases. The changeup is the least developed pitch, and he sells it well out of his hand. His athleticism and clean arm path suggest it can improve. Right now his plan is mostly up and down, and he needs a pitch that moves side to side.

He isn’t straining for velocity, which gives him a natural sense of the zone and helps his case as a starter. Keeping his control as the velocity rises comes first, and the slight build and narrow shoulders leave a question about how much strength he can add.

He projects as a starter, with a realistic floor near the back of a rotation. Velocity that arrives so easily gives him a chance at mid-rotation upside if the body fills out.
