Summary:
Taylor is a right-hander with command that grades as a real strength, throws strikes in volume, and works from a low release point that adds to his deception. His fastball has gained velocity and now sits 93-95, with a peak of 98. The pitch finds ways to miss the barrel, and it has carried over to higher-level hitters. He understands how his slot fits with his repertoire, and few college arms walk batters as rarely as he does.

The cutter and the changeup lead a deep mix. The cutter has been his best pitch, drawing huge numbers of swings and chases, and it resembles a gyro slider whose shape and speed shift but which he locates reliably. The changeup, in the low 80s, drops and fades, and it’s probably his best secondary. A slider, a curveball, and a sweeper he’s added recently round out the group, and all of them are usable. None of the secondaries stands out as plus, but he throws many of them and mixes them well.

His frame is on the small side and suits relief. The fastball is a little behind the rest of his arsenal, and its movement is hittable at times, but he’s always thrown strikes. Expect the cutter to be thrown more in pro ball and the fastball less.

He profiles as a bullpen piece who could move fast. His command and the number of pitches he can throw should produce steady outs from a major league bullpen, and if the velocity gains hold, he has an outside chance to start in the back of a rotation.
