Summary:
Edwards is a right-hander with a heavy, powerful build, and his stuff is suited to a pro bullpen. He began as a two-way player and moved to the mound full-time, and he’s still developing as a pitcher. The fastball averages 94-96, reaches 99, and is thrown from a high slot with plenty of cut and a bit of lift. It’s among the toughest cutters to hit in college baseball. If he keeps the movement and adds more carry up in the zone, it could grade plus. His control of it is below average.

The slider sits 82-85 and touches 87, with a flat, sweeping shape that depends more on side-to-side movement than on depth. It misses bats at a very high rate, and he commits to it. His spin has improved, and so has his ability to throw it for strikes. A firm changeup in the upper 80s is used against lefties, though he doesn’t command it well, and the cutter already handles left-handed hitters about as effectively.

His results haven’t matched what the stuff suggests. He accepts whatever role he’s given, a trait that should help him in pro ball.

He projects as a reliever, and the fastball and the slider are good enough to pitch in the highest-leverage spots. A starting role is possible only if the changeup becomes usable and he finds consistency in the zone, but the likelier path is a bullpen role built on the cutter and the sweeping slider.
