2023 MLB Draft: Noble Meyer, RHP, Jesuit HS (OR)

Player: Noble Meyer
School: Jesuit HS (OR)                                                         Position(s): RHP
Height: 6’5″                       Weight: 195 lbs.                       Bats: Right                         Throws: Right
Pitches:
Fastball: Has been up to 98, sitting more 94-96, has plenty of run. Plays up due to arm slot. True plus pitch
Slider: 84-87, two plane bender that has late drop and plenty of sweeping action. Not a big breaker but very sharp leading to plenty of swing and miss.
Changeup: 89, only seen a handful, significantly behind the fastball and slider. Does have solid late fade. https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
Delivery/Mechanics: Low 3/4 slot delivery creating some crossbody plane. Leg drive is inconsistent, sometimes gets good drive, sometimes more fall than drive. Very good balance in delivery despite a very lanky body. Some late effort but doesn’t come with any impact on command. Good extension and velo comes easy with the late effort not enough to be a concern about the ability to keep stuff deep into outing. Front foot much less direct when in stretch but does not come with a significant decrease in command or stuff.
Other: Oregon commit.
Summary: Fastball and slider are both plus offerings and one of the best duo of pitches in the prep class, but the inconsistency in the change is of slight concern. Getting the change up to average would be a massive help for the long term likelihood of sticking in a rotation. He has showed impressive command considering the long levers and two power offerings, helps provide a higher floor. Has real argument to be the first prep arm off the board given a high floor and ceiling. Unlikely to ever be a true ace, but has the upside of a quality two or elite third starter.
