Player: Tegan Kuhns
School: Chambersburg Area HS (PA) Position(s): RHP
Height: 6’3″ Weight: 175 lbs. Bats: Right Throws: Right
Pitches: Fastball: 93-94, riding life in fastball, spots it well. Future average to a tick better. Curve Ball: 77-79, Some inconsistency to shape, mild two plane bender at higher velo, bigger traditional CB shape at lower velo. Regularly over 3,000 RPM, plus future. Change: 83-86, Real fade and dip, inconsistent but real upside.
Delivery/Mechanics: Three quarter to just higher arm slot with good extension following a big leg kick with good leg drive. A ton of projectability in the body but already has solid body control. Loose arm will allow for added velo and has starter’s mechanics.
Other: Tennessee commit
Summary: Projection, projection, projection. That is the word for Kuhns. He has a long and lean body with plenty of room to fill out, but the loose arm already has plenty of arm speed. As he fills out and adds strength, the fastball could take a real step forward in terms of velo while he already has elite spin in his breaking ball and the change is really improving. He has a real shot to have three above-average to better pitches with decent command and a starter’s frame.
