| Summary: Yes, this is the son of MLB bench coach George Lombard, and brother of Yankees 2023 first round pick George Lombard Jr. Unlike his brother, I think Jacob sticks at short and has the potential to be pretty special there. The actions are smooth despite his size and he plays with a level of controlled aggressiveness that you rarely see from a player his age. I am high on his overall athleticism and think he remains a plus runner and plenty of arm to stay on the left side even if he does eventually outgrow short. There is some swing-and-miss in the bat, but he doesn’t chase outside the zone and has a quick swing to the zone. The balance is solid which allows him to drive the ball to all fields, and has some impressive raw power even if the game power isn’t quite at the raw levels yet. This is a player with 1-1 upside given the toolset and baseball IQ. | |||||||||||
