2026 MLB Draft: Drew Burress, OF, Georgia Tech

Player: Drew Burress
School: Georgia TechPosition(s): OF
Height: 5’9″Weight: 180 lbs.Bats: RightThrows: Right
Summary: At first glance, Burress is somewhat unassuming given he is smaller in size, but there is nothing small about the bat. When he makes contact the ball travels a long way, and the good news is he makes a ton of contact. He drew 58 walks a season ago while striking out just 37 in 285 trips to the plate. He also hit .381 with 25 home runs, but the most eye-catching stat is he was on base more than 50% of the time he stepped in the box. The power is true double plus and the hit tool is quality as well as he has an open stance with a bit of bat wrap and lek kick, but he gets the foot down early and generates a ton of bat speed. Defensively he has plenty of arm for right, but he has shown some good range and reads in center and he could well be an average defender there. Overall, there is a reason many have him circled as the favorite to go 1-1 in 2026.
