| Summary: Houston may have the lowest grade on an individual tool as anyone in consideration to go on day one, but don’t let his lack of power fool you, he is a quality ballplayer. At the plate he walks more than he strikes out and his hands stay inside the ball really well, allowing him to use the whole field well. While home runs will never be a real part of his game with a wood bat, extra bases will be. He puts up excellent home to first and steal times, and can turn a ball into the medium depth gap into a double. In the field he really shines, as he may be the best defensive shortstop at the college level in this class. He has the plus arm to go with it that showed really well in some limited action at third base over the summer. The upside is fully reliant on the bat, but pure contact and speed makes him an old-school leadoff style hitter and how much a team values that will determine just how high he goes in the draft. | |||||||||||
