| Summary: I had Flores ranked as the 112th overall prospect in the 2024 draft as an eligible sophomore, and would have blamed nobody had they taken him on day one. That didn’t happen though, as Flores announced ahead of the draft he would be returning to Austin for another season. With a July 31st birthday, he was the youngest a sophomore could be to be eligible, meaning he won’t exactly be an “old” junior in 2025. He has always been a quality defender with smooth actions in the field, soft hands, and plenty of arm, he is a no brainer shortstop despite the strength he has added to his frame in college. Offensively he had a massive season in 2024 with a .340 average and 18 home runs and 22 doubles, he showed the hit/power combo from a premium defensive position. Long levers and keeping everything on time has been an issue for him in the past, even in 2024, but he has really improved his swing, quieted a lot of those moving parts and is much more direct to the ball. Look for Flores to be a guy who really climbs up boards with a big 2025. | |||||||||||
